Crumpled Building in Northern India Kills 3 Firemen
At least 3 firemen were killed and six persons injured when a three-storey building collapsed in Jammu city when fire department personnel were in.
The building in Golepulli area, housing a saw mill on the ground floor, collapsed during the fire fighting operation, trapping several people.
The collapse took place while firefighters were inside dousing a fire that had broken out.
A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), also joined the ongoing rescue operation.
Building collapse in India are common, often as a result of heavy rain and the use of poor building materials and substandard maintenance practices.
