Following the Nairobi health workers strike that kicked off on Tuesday, they have received pressures from the county government threatening to sack those participating in the strike.

Acting Health county executive in charge of health Vesca Kagongo says the county administration is in the process of promoting the over 2000 workers who the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers and the Kenyan Union of Nurses want promoted and re-designated.

Kagongo says according to a recent agreement between the unions and the county government the health workers strike goes against a noting that Ksh130 million has already been set aside to cater for the demands of the 2153 health workers.

However, the calls by the Health County Executive Committee appear to have been rendered meaningless as health workers continued with their strike.

On Tuesday the striking workers marched to City Hall to express their frustration but were dispersed on arrival.

They claim that they have suffered greatly since the health sector was devolved claiming they have not been promoted unlike their colleagues in other counties.
