Machakos, Kenya – Football enthusiasts in Machakos County have a fresh reason to be optimistic following a high-profile meeting between Governor H.E. Wavinya Ndeti and Mr. Robbie Lyle, the founder of the globally renowned Arsenal Fan TV (AFTV).
During a courtesy visit to the governor’s office in Machakos, Mr. Lyle was received warmly by Governor Wavinya, who described the visit as a symbol of “hope, inspiration, and a fresh beginning” for the youth, particularly those passionate about football.
“This visit by Mr. Robbie represents hope and inspiration to our people, particularly the youth who are interested in football,” Governor Wavinya told the media after the meeting.
She affirmed her administration’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent across the county, noting that no dream is too big to achieve with the right support and infrastructure.
“We are committed to identifying and nurturing talent so that our people can benefit from their gifts,” she said.
Governor Wavinya also spoke about the much-anticipated Governor’s Cup, which returns this year with record-breaking participation. Over 650 teams are expected to take part, making it the largest edition yet and a powerful platform for showcasing local talent.
Mr. Lyle, best known for building one of the world’s most influential fan-led sports media platforms, praised the governor for her leadership and vision. He expressed a strong desire to collaborate with the county in empowering young people through football.
“I’m grateful for the warm welcome from Governor Wavinya. I look forward to building a strong partnership with Machakos County and supporting youth empowerment initiatives through football,” said Lyle.
Deputy Governor H.E. Francis Mwangangi also weighed in, commending Governor Wavinya’s steadfast commitment to youth development. He highlighted her track record in creating meaningful opportunities for young people across the county.
