The family of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the main suspect in the Kware killings, last saw him in
early 2022. Since then, they’ve been unsure of his whereabouts because he has never returned
home to his mother in Migori County fearing he might be dead.
Citizen TV investigated his identity using an ID number linked to his phone, revealing he was
born in Vihiga County in 1991. The search led them to his sister in Vihiga, who doubted her
brother’s involvement in the murders, describing him as very gentle.
Collins’ father died in 1995, and afterward, the family moved to Migori County. Collins briefly
returned in 2016 to buy land and build his mother a house. His mother recounted how he studied
in Uganda before disappearing and resurfacing in Nairobi with his friends. The brother to Collins
said that he used to visit the suspect once in a while in Mbotela estate, Nairobi before they lost
contact.
The family is shocked by the allegations and seeks a thorough investigation. Police revisited
Collins’ home in Mukuru kwa Njenga, finding evidence like blood-stained items, knives,
women’s shoes, clothing, and a briefcase containing ropes similar to those used in wrapping body
recovered at the quarry.
A phone Collins sold was linked to one of the deceased, prompting further forensic investigation.
Collins remains in custody for 30 days while police gather more evidence.
