Russia Lands Nuclear Bombers in Africa as Putin Hosts African Leaders

Russia landed two nuclear bombers in South Africa during a training mission on wednesday, a flight that concurs with president Vladimir Putin’s opening of the Russian-Africa summit.

The South African National Defense Forces said that two Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bombers landed at Waterkloof air force base in Tshwane .
This happened on Wednesday, it is designed to mature military ties between South Africa and Russia.

President Vladimir Putin was speaking to dozen of African heads of state in a two-day summit in the southern Russian city of Sochi. Putin is looking forward to double the trade with African countries in the next four to five years .

Moscow has already written off African debts that amount to more than $ 20 billion.

The first Russia-Africa summit is part of a Kremlin drive to win business .

This will restore its faded influence following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
