Kirinyaga woman rep Njeri Maina has today on Friday 25th August 2023 recorded a statement over Tuesday’s chaos at the DCI headquarters in Kerugoya
The women rep sustained head injuries during the chaos which led to her hospitalization. She was accompanied by her lawyer Otiende Amollo, the Rarienda member of parliament
Amollo, in a statement to the members of the press said that the woman rep has already submitted some of the names of her attackers whom she identified during the incident and others who were captured on video clips which have been doing rounds on social media platforms.
The woman rep has said she will institute criminal and civil charges against all perpetrators who assaulted her early this week within Kerugoya town including the mastermind and those who executed the vicious act on her and her supporters.
Her lawyer also expressed satisfaction with the investigation process and expressed confidence that by next week a lot of progress pertaining to the investigation of the case will have been made.
He added that the charges will serve as a lesson to the perpetrators and other criminals who intend to engage in political thuggery within Kirinyaga and the entire country.
“We will also be seeking compensation over the suffering, pain and expenses she has incurred because she knows who plotted and sent her attackers,” he said.

Amollo further condemned the hooliganism, saying it should not have happened.
The Woman Rep who was in a wheelchair condemned the incident as she rallied the youths to maintain peace and refrain from being used by malicious politicians to settle political scores.
She further exuded confidence that the information she provided would be resourceful in the arrest of her attackers and consequent legal action against them.
Maina further called on her fellow politicians to embrace dialogue in political differences instead of sending goons to attack their opponents.
She however said that despite recovering and being confined in a wheelchair she would continue discharging her mandate without fear.
