On a Tuesday morning, Nairobi’s central business district witnessed an alarming incident
involving motorcycle goons and a black Range Rover. This operation happened when several
motorcyclists surrounded the luxury vehicle, reportedly receiving 1,000 shillings.
The suspected goons, traveling in groups of three per bike, had deliberately concealed their
license plates to avoid identification. After initially gathering around the Range Rover, they
proceeded to a well-known petrol station on Haile Selassie Avenue CBD, where they were filled
petrol worth 1000. Witnesses observed the same vehicle returning to distribute an additional
1,000 shillings to each motorcyclist later in the day.
The suspected goons snatched phones and other personal accessories, causing panic and chaos.
The assault left several people injured and at least two motorcycles burnt to near ashes.
These individuals were identified as pro-government protestors. After nearly an hour of
wreaking havoc, they departed the CBD, heading towards the city’s outskirts. Observers noted
their departure as an indication that their mission had been accomplished.
KTN reported that the black Range Rover was owned by a former member of the City County,
who also had vied for Makadara MP in 2022 elections. However, the extent of his involvement is
still under investigation. It remains uncertain whether he was the one driving the car, giving the
goons instruction or not.
As the investigation continues, the public awaits further updates on the situation and the potential
legal consequences for those involved.
