RAILA ODINGA AND MUSALIA MUDAVADI ATTEND EAC RETREAT.

The retreat in Zanzibar, attended by former prime minister Raila Odinga leader of Kenya
Azimio party on July 7th in East African Community ministerial retreat, where he officially
declared his candidacy for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission.
Odinga’s presence at the retreat was met with anticipation as he engaged in deliberations with
EAC ministers focused on supporting regional cooperation and advancing the AU’s agenda for
continental integration and development. His candidacy symbolizes Kenya’s commitment to
playing a proactive role in shaping the future of Africa’s collective aspirations.


Support for Odinga’s bid was vocalized by the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who
serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. Mudavadi emphasized the
importance of EAC member states rallying behind Odinga’s candidacy, citing his vision and
experience as crucial assets in steering the AU towards greater unity and progress.
