Former Kakamega governor Wycliff Oparanya and his two wives were on early Wednesday afternoon arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) over corruption and economic crimes committed during his tenure
The three were arrested and taken before detectives at EACC Integrity Centre police station, Nairobi. This summons comes shortly after EACC officers conducted a raid on his residence in Butere. The arrest also comes ahead of the presidents visit to the western region scheduled next week
In a statement, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party said no information had been given about the arrest
Oparanya’s lawyer led by Danstan Omari and some Azimio-allied MPs have been barred from accessing the EACC offices.
