Nyamira Residents are mourning the death of their Member of the County Assembly (MCA) and leader of majority Elijah Osiemo following a tragic road accident on Monday along the Maai Mahiu – Naivasha road.
In a press statement by Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, the late Osiemo was travelling to Nairobi accompanied by two other MCAs; Mr Duke Masira (deputy leader of majority) and Ms Priscilla Nyatichi (nominated MCA) when the accident occurred.
The other two who sustained injuries were rushed to Naivasha Level four hospital where they are being stabilised and receiving medication awaiting the Doctor’s advice.
The Governor eulogised Osiemo as a young, industrious and focused leader who was highly talented with a robust political life ahead and sent condolence messages to the entire family of late Osiemo, Residents of Nyamaiya ward and the entire County.
West Mugirango Member of Parliament Steve Mogaka said he was equally saddened by the sudden demise of his political mentee and Nyamaiya ward MCA, who alongside his colleagues were involved in a fatal traffic accident.
“Personally, I have lost my political student whose future was promising, my thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family members, the people of Nyamaiya ward and West Mugirango Constituency at large. Further, I wish My Township MCA Mr Duke Masira, Special elect Ms Priscilla Nyatichi quick recovery,” Mogaka said.
The remains of Osiemo were moved to Nairobi for preservation as the people of Nyamira County come to terms with this devastating and untimely death of their leader.
