Forgiveness

This excerpt talks about forgiveness. As we received from the Lord so are we to deliver to the other people.

1. Heart David Received to Forgive

David having received the heart of God to forgive was able to easily forgive Shimei when he was abusing him even though his soldiers wanted him to revenge.

The heart of forgiveness could easily flow from David’s heart remembering how God had forgiven him after sleeping with Uriah’s wife and trying all the way to conceal his sin. Upon accepting the sin which had been revealed by God through Prophet Nathan, God was able to forgive him.

In Isaiah 43:25, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

God shows us how He has forgiven our sins already for His own sake. He brought Jesus into this world to die for our sins. Through John the Baptist all our sins were transferred to Jesus during baptism. And Jesus was smashed to die on the cross thereby paying for our sins thus making us to receive forgiveness of sins.

2. God Already Forgave Our Sins

He shows us in Isaiah 44:22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

How He has already blotted out our transgressions and redeemed us. He thus calls us to go back to Him without doing anything for He has already done everything for us.

In Isaiah 1:18, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

He calls us to Him to reason together and see how our sins have been washed as white as snow.

3. Man Cannot Rule Over Sin

God knows that man cannot rule over sin by himself that’s why He has done everything by Himself. In Matthew 18, there was a man who had been forgiven for a debt of 10,000 talents. One talent is equivalent to 34kg of gold. 1kg of gold costs almost Ksh.5Million, Thus, 10,000 talents is worth a valuable and big amount.

This means that this man had a very big debt that he could not pay by himself. The same way man had a very big debt of sin that he could not pay by himself. But just like the king in this excerpt, God has already paid this debt of sin through Jesus thereby forgiving our sins.

The same man whose debt was forgiven never had compassion on one servant who owed him a small amount. This means this man did not receive the heart of the king for forgiveness.

4. Had He Received The Heart of the King to Forgive?

Had he received the heart of the king, this same heart would have been transferred to the servant. This man had knowledge but just received the word about forgiveness from the king but he never received the heart of forgiveness from the king.

Had he received the heart he would have realized how big indebted he was and easily transferred the same heart to his servant. David was forgiven from the sin that he had committed. Shimei came and began to abuse him but David still forgave him even though Abishai wanted to kill Shimei.

5. We Are The Ones Whose Sins Are Forgiven

We are the ones who have been forgiven our sins. The same power to forgive sins that was with Jesus has been transferred to us. And now the Lord is sending us to the world to tell people that their sins have been forgiven.

In Ecclesiastes 7:20-22, for there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. 21 Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee: 22 for oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

We are admonished not to take concern when others curse us for we also have cursed severally. When we have such a heart we can easily forgive. Jesus, even though He was bitten and smitten, he could not revile back. Our Lord forgave us eternally; hence He can never count those that believe as sinners again.

Therefore forgiveness has no limit; we have to forgive always and forever. The Lord has made us perfect forever and He does not remember our sins no more. He has made us Holy, Righteous and Perfect forever. But those who have rejected the forgiveness of God go to hell. They have denied the death of Jesus.
